We are currently seeking an energetic, self-motivated professional for a full-time Development Director. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, three to five years of professional fundraising experience, and enjoy frequent state-wide travel. This position is part of a dynamic and growing organization that raises money, awards grants, and supports special projects that preserve Montana history.

Within the team, our Development Director oversees and expands the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. It is a terrific opportunity to build and expand an innovative and exciting new development program within an established and respected state-wide organization.


  • Meets current and prospective donors, including frequent state-wide and occasional nation-wide travel.
  • Oversees direct appeals, donor mailings, and monthly giving program.
  • Solicits and cultivates major gifts and planned giving.
  • Collaborates with other staff members to prepare and submit grant applications
  • Prepares and delivers regular fundraising reports to CEO and board.
  • Maintains records of donor and prospect contacts.
  • Within a team, coordinates and collaborates on external grant applications.
  • Within a team, plans and executes fundraising events.

Compensation & Benefits:  $65,000 - $75,000 annual salary depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, salaried position with a generous time off and benefits package.

Location and travel:: The Foundation is located in Helena and although Helena residency is preferred, the Development Director may reside in anywhere in Montana. Frequent state-wide (compensated) travel is required.
