The Montana History Foundation presents Helena History Hikes & Walks, a series of guided experiences that connects residents and visitors to our past through inspiring interpretation of heritage sites and stories.
There’s something for everyone – families, couples, explorers, and those just strolling through town.
We offer activities Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
History Hike: Mt. HelenaJoin us on this 2-mile guided hike to explore the history embedded on Mt. Helena’s landscape! As you traverse the mountain, you will hear stories of the colorful characters and community endeavors that helped shape Helena into the town we see today.
Schedule: May 29 – September 5
Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m.
History Walk: Breweries & BrothelsBefore the commerce building and residential homes, Helena’s southside was filled with miners, bars, brothels, and even a Chinatown. We’ll wander the remnants of these historic districts and bring back to life the stories of these large, and almost forgotten, communities.
Schedule: May 27 – September 3
Thursdays and Fridays at 6:00 p.m.
