The Paradise Elementary School Preservation Committee received a third grant from MHF to develop an exhibit called, “When the Whistle Blew.” The exhibit explores the 135-year legacy of the Northern Pacific Railway, which was the primary industry in the region, in Paradise. The exhibit will honor deceased and living railroad workers, educate tourists about life and work in a railroad company town, and pass information about Paradise’s railroad heritage to future generations.
MHF’s first grant to Paradise Elementary School Preservation Committee helped fund feasibility studies for repurposing the school. MHF’s second grant helped the Committee create a master plan for exhibit and program development. We are glad to continue funding the Paradise Elementary School Preservation Committee to bring program and exhibit plans to fruition.
