Montana Wilderness Association – Historic Bluestone House Cupola Repair

The Montana Wilderness Association (MWA) has received a 2021 MHF grant to restore the corner turret on the Bluestone House, one of the most recognizable buildings on Helena’s skyline. Perched beneath the Fire Tower, the Bluestone House was built in 1889 of locally quarried stone for a notorious madame. The historic metal roof system that caps the turret is failing, and the MHF grant will preserve the existing materials and replace the fasteners, reapply sealants, and color-match existing paints. A watertight restoration will ensure the longevity of this iconic Helena building.
